If a young child needs dental work that would cause anyone a lot of pain, or if they need a dental procedure that lasts a long time, consider a sedation dentist. For a child, of course, a long time might be 15 minutes, and if they have a serious problem in their mouth, the dentist may need them to keep the mouth open for many minutes at a time. This can be very difficult for a child, so a sedation dentist might be useful to help keep the child relaxed enough that their mouth can stay open for as long as the dentist needs.
